28 Oct RAINBOW RIOTS HAS STARTED UGANDA’S FIRST LGBT+ COMMUNITY CENTRE!
In Uganda it’s illegal to be gay. LGBT people risk being arrested or becoming victims of violence. They have no safe space. Rainbow Riots is on a mission to change this.
Thanks to donations from private individuals around the world and a fundraising campaign run by Rainbow Riots and global organisation All Out, in 2019 we opened Uganda’s first LGBT community centre. The centre is a safe space to welcome the Ugandan LGBT community. It also offers advice and a diverse range of recreation programmes and services including arts, cultural activities and community gatherings.
To keep the community centre alive, Rainbow Riots needs your help. Be a part of this historic project by donating today.
Rainbow Riots founder and director, Swedish artist and activist Petter Wallenberg said
“In spite of the challenges, we have succeeded in opening our LGBTQ community centre. I want everyone around the world to help us fight against the horrific injustice against LGBT people in Uganda. By supporting this centre you can take a stand for every human’s right to equality and love.”
